USC Mock Game a Costly One
The USC Trojans played their annual mock game today at the Coliseum to mark the beginning of the 2009 campaign.
The game was intended to simulate the atmosphere of a real game and get the squad ready for its home opener against the San Jose State Spartans next Saturday.
It was also intended to unveil the new starting quarterback, Matt Barkley, to the thousands of Trojan faithful who braved 105-degree heat to attend. This was especially notable ...
Why Notre Dame Doesn’t Have a Fighting Chance To Win More Than Eight Games
For the first time in a while Notre Dame has high hopes for their football season. Some expect 11 wins and BCS bowl berth. WHOA WHOA WHOA! Lets take a back a bit, they did lose to Syracuse last year. Here is a game by game assessment of what will happen this year for the Irish.
Game 1: Nevada
Oh, this look winnable, Nevada is in the WAC. Wrong. Nevada has a very good offense and returns Colin ...
Ohio State’s Final Preparations for Opening Feast and Other Buckeye Bits
Well it's been a long summer, but at last it's finally here. College football finally kicks off the 2009 season this week.
It's been an offseason full of questions and unsolved mysteries for a team that has been to the BCS for the past four seasons.
Ohio State welcomes the Navy Midshipmen to the Horseshoe on Saturday, a truly unorthodox opponent before the non-conference game of the year against the USC Trojans.
After crushing losses, the Buckeyes have ...
USC Intimidated in the Horseshoe? Maybe
You can make a colorable argument that USC has been the best big game team in the country for the better part of this decade. When they lose, it is typically to a (sometimes much) lesser opponent. If you turn on the lights and tell the Trojans it really matters, they are perhaps the most indomitable opponent.
With the lone exception of the 2006 Rose Bowl, it is difficult to point to a hyped contest that ...
Florida vs. Charleston Southern: Killing a Gnat With a Sledgehammer
Game Preview
If you are a college football fan who enjoys a good mismatch, this is going to be one for the ages.
The defending national champion Florida Gators open their 2009 season with an overmatched FCS opponent from the Big South Conference: Charleston Southern.
The Buccaneers stand absolutely zero chance of winning this game, and quite frankly, they shouldn't even be on the Gators' schedule.
There were talks that Utah was going be the season opener for Florida, but the ...
Grand Valley State Starts Strong For Division II

The following recap taken from the Grand Valley State website.
Grand Valley State opened the season offensively and drove down the field in impressive fashion. When Senior quarterback Brad ...

Marquette’s Acker Rejoins Marquette Golden Eagles
Point guard Maurice Acker has re-joined the Marquette Golden Eagles basketball team after leaving two months ago to focus on his studies. Acker, a senior, was on track to graduate in the fall but will need to take a couple more classes in the spring to graduate on time. Because of this, he re-joins the rebuilding Golden Eagles the week before classes start.
Last season, Acker averaged 2.8 points and 1.8 assists and played a key ...
NCAA “Violations”?: If You Go After Michigan, Investigate All Major Schools
I play for my high school baseball team. During this offseason, my coach said to all potential pitchers:
"If you want to pitch, you need to go to the pitching workouts".
These workouts aren't supposed to be mandatory and shouldn't be run by coaches, but they are. This is the kind of accusations that are being made for Michigan.
Every college and high school has workouts, meetings, training sessions in the offseason. And anyone who has ever ...
