Georgia Bulldogs’ Defense “Remembers The Feeling” of 2008

Posted by Tyler Estep on August 31 2009 Add Comments
Do you remember the feeling?Georgia's defense does.  The newest addition to the Bulldogs' defensive team meeting room reminds them every day.Amid dog bones and gas cans signed by Bulldog defensive greats and an enormous photo of Erk Russell, the founder of Georgia's "junkyard dawgs" philosophy, sits the sign that reads just that: "Do you remember the feeling?"Just as Georgia defenders enter the room, one they go to every day, they're greeted by the poster, the ...

KU Football: Northern Colorado’s Cupboard Not Exactly “Bear”

I like predictions. I like hearing them, making them, explaining them and comparing them. Unfortunately, predictions aren't much use here, and I doubt my opinion has much merit to you anyway. What might be useful to you, however, before you start tossing around uneducated nonsense concerning KU's September 5th season-opener against Northern Colorado is a few important facts. That's where I come in. I'm not here to stop you from making a ludicrous prediction for this ...

Alabama-Virgina Tech: The Second Quarter Will Tell the Tale

Posted by Larry Burton on August 31 2009 Add Comments
Everybody picks winners and losers, it's just in our nature as sports fans. What's harder is picking the reasons they'll win or lose. Let me boldly proclaim that the team leading at halftime will win the game and I will explain why. By nature, these are both conservative coaches who believe you win with defense and great special teams. Neither has a history of being recklessly risky in the first quarter. The first quarter is going to ...

Notre Dame’s Potential Heisman Candidates

It's almost here. Notre Dame is less than a week away from kicking off the season against Nevada. I know I have been waiting for this game since Christmas Day. I will never forget that day in Hawaii. Although haters may not acknowledge it, the Hawaii Bowl was the game that awoke a sleeping giant. In that game we saw a glimpse of what these guys can be in 2009. Lou Holtz predicts they will play ...

The Michigan Football Allegations: It’s a Dead Issue

I can't believe the life this story has taken. The Free Press has taken something that every program does in the nation and made it into a national story. There are things called non-countable hours which the Free Press article never mentions. Examples of non-countable hours are things like study hall, treatment, training table, etc.The Free Press can't seem to get out of it's own way and are running headlines like this: As in Hoops ...

A Note To Bret Bielema: Win

Posted by Duff Beach on August 31 2009 Add Comments
With just five days until kickoff, it’s everyone’s last opportunity to get their season previews done and set the tone for the year-long evaluation of Bret Bielema. (For what it’s worth, I’m an optimist at 9-3, losses to Ohio State, Iowa, and one of Northwestern or MSU).  Bielema’s seat is warm, but how warm?  With a few days to go before the opener, by what standard should we judge him?   The one that counts: wins.   Message board ...
