Wisconsin Badgers Football: Backup QB Curt Phillips Possibly Out Until 2011

As Wisconsin's top backup as a redshirt freshman last year, sophomore quarterback Curt Phillips was supposed to get another year of experience backing up Scott Tolzien in 2010 before taking over the starting role in 2011.

That all changed earlier today.

On Tuesday, Badger head coach Bret Bielema confirmed that Phillips suffered an ACL tear in his right knee during a scrimmage on Saturday.

Because Phillips has already redshirted, he isn't able to receive a medical redshirt next year and would only be eligible for one if he suffered another significant injury in the future.
