The Big East Conference plans to announce a new alliance today with the Champs Sports Bowl game in Orlando.

A news conference is scheduled for this afternoon that will give the details of the game and which conference will provide the Big East an opponent.

A spot in the bowl game will be awarded to the No. 2 team in the Big East. The winner of the Big East plays in the Orange Bowl of the BCS series.

ESPN's Brian Bennett has reported the news on his Big East blog. Alerts were issued Tuesday morning from Big East headquarters for the press conference and afternoon announcement.
