Las Vegas Bowl 2010: The Kyle Brotzman Disaster

Posted by Adam Fromal on December-22-2010 Add Comments

Boise State had a chance to go undefeated, but instead, they lost 31-34 in overtime to the Nevada Wolfpack.

It's not fair to pin the blame on Kyle Brotzman because his team really shouldn't have even put him in the position he was in, but the usually reliable senior kicker missed a short field goal in regulation that would have won the game. He then missed the field goal that would have tied it back up in overtime.

Brotzman immediately became a Boise State scapegoat and their failure to make a BCS Bowl was pinned on him. Was it fair? No, but it did happen.

Here's a video of Brotzman talking about what happened.
