As rumors fly about Arizona defensive coordinator Mark Stoops being the top candidate for the Youngstown State head coaching job, it makes one wonder if that is a bad thing for the Wildcats.

He has been one of the members of the staff that has been there from the beginning of the turnaround. In fact, most of the defensive staff has been unchanged in six years.

Arizona has gone from being cellar-dwellers to playing in a game that could put them in a tie for second place in the conference.

The defense has always been the constant for Arizona. They were the ones that kept the Cats in games and won them multiple games.

In recent years, he has produced All-Pac 10 performers and even a Thorpe award winner.
