When I read Chris Low's column about Bryce Brown's transfer, it was almost a bigger surprise than Lane Kiffin's night train defection to USC. Brown was a great spell back for Montario Hardesty last year, amassing 597 total yards and four touchdowns. This year, under new coach Derek Dooley, he surely would have started at tailback.

No one really knows why Brown left. It's being kept under wraps like the upcoming Hobbit movie. The ESPN report said it was for personal, family reasons, so Brown may transfer to a school closer to his Wichita, Kansas home.
