As Bleacher Report's First and Big Ten.com predicted almost a week ago, Iowa running back Jewel Hampton will miss the entire 2009 season with a knee injury.
Coach Kirk Ferentz made the announcement just moments ago in his press conference, as transcribed by Scout.com.
Hampton had suffered the initial injury in the summer and re-aggravated it in an August practice.
He will have surgery, redshirt, and retain three years of eligibility after setting the Hawkeye freshman record for rushing touchdowns in 2008.
