With the release of the AP preseason poll this past weekend, Bronco fans have something more to be excited about.

Boise State is ranked 14, the highest preseason ranking ever for a non-BCS team during the BCS era.

So what does the ranking mean for this season?

If the Broncos go undefeated, they will be all but guaranteed a BCS bowl. Maybe a Fiesta Bowl rematch against Oklahoma? Or even a bid into the Rose Bowl as another first for a non-BCS team?

But what about the National Championship, could the Broncos high rank be a springboard into the biggest of them all?

Not likely. The schedule is just too weak. Their biggest game will be against the lone BCS team on their schedule, Oregon, on the first weekend ...
