Fall camps are wrapping up across the country and soon all 120 teams that make up college football's FBS sub-division will begin to focus on their opening day opponent.

During the last few months the B/R college football pages have been inundated with predictions and guesses at what teams will make up the elite of 2009.

There have been well researched and smart, educated guesses and there have been blind stabs in the air.  Neither mean anything in the grand scheme of things. 

Why?

Because under the current system for naming a national champion in FBS college football there is a way to narrow the field much more simply.
