Rotnei Clarke of Arkansas could be the best pure shooter in college basketball.

Never heard of him? Try 51 points on 13-of-17 three-point baskets in a 130-68 season-opening victory over Alcorn State. The 51 points were an Arkansas school-record, while the 13 treys were an SEC record.

Having covered Clarke closely in high school at Verdigris, Okla., Clarke’s record night is not a shock, having once seen him score 65 in a high school game. Clarke was every bit as good as all of the guards that came out of high school in the Class of 2008.
