It does not gain the recognition nor the attention of the NCAA Tournament, but the NIT is providing fans with solid performances headlined by a surging fourth-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels squad. The Tar Heels are now in the semifinals with their 60-55 victory over UAB last night. 

No. 2 Mississippi joins North Carolina in the NIT semifinals thanks to a thrilling, double overtime victory over No. 5 Texas Tech.

Tonight, No. 2 Rhode Island takes on No. 1 Virginia Tech in the quarterfinals of the NIT with a trip to Madison Square Garden on the line.  MSG is the site of the NIT semifinals and championship.
