"I love these kids like they were my own; we're a family around here." How many times have you heard these words uttered from a coach's mouth?

I don't know about you, but I've heard it so often that I've begun to think those words are just a sports cliché with no real meaning at all—or I used to think that.

That changed today when I read a story that's almost too good for Hollywood.
