It was only on three days rest, but Gamecocks starting pitcher Michael Roth threw 127 pitches in 7.2 innings of work and helped carried the team to a second straight national championship.

Reliever John Taylor came in for South Carolina with one out left in the eighth inning, but never really had great control through the entire finals series. He was taken out after just two pitches and giving up one hit. Clutch closer Matt Price retired the last four batters.
