Ole Miss vs. Alabama: Tide Aren’t Perfect, but They’re Still the Team to Beat

Posted by Adam Kramer on September 28 2013 Add Comments
It’s not always dazzling, and the box scores don’t jump off the screen like they do with the likes of Oregon, Clemson or other offenses that regularly bloody their opponents with frequent end-zone visits. But Alabama continues to bloody teams in different ways—winning with variety in 2013—and the giant will stay the giant until someone finally takes it down. This isn’t anything new, of course. This role of favorite is one that Alabama has embraced frequently ...

SEC Teams Suffer Through Brutal, Injury-Riddled Week 5

Posted by Sebastian Lena on September 28 2013 Add Comments
The SEC certainly lived up to its reputation as the nation’s roughest, toughest conference on Saturday as the injury bug bit several high profile teams hard. Not even a week after Florida received devastating news that they’d be without quarterback Jeff Driskel (broken leg) and defensive tackle Dominique Easley (ACL) for the remainder of the season, the hits kept coming for the conference. Heisman-hopefuls to pivotal role players were among those who went down on Saturday.   RT ...

Mike Evans’ Updated 2014 NFL Draft Stock After Win vs. Arkansas

Johnny Manziel might be the one who gets all the headlines for Texas A&M, but it's Mike Evans who should be on NFL teams' radars.  The 6'5", 225-pound wide receiver continued his dominant season with yet another impressive performance in the Aggies' 45-33 victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks. The redshirt sophomore was once again Johnny Football's favorite target as he notched six catches for 116 yards and two touchdowns.  Much like Evans' seven-reception, 279-yard game against Alabama, ...

Alabama vs. Ole Miss: Nick Saban Finally Figured out the Spread Offense

Posted by Scott Carasik on September 28 2013 Add Comments
Nick Saban has figured out how to crush the spread offense. He's figured out how to take Crimson Tide's defense and make Ole Miss's offense look like a FCS school's in the Alabama 25-0 victory over the Rebels. As Sanjay Kirpalani explored before the game Saturday, coach Saban has had trouble trying to defend the spread offense. While the defense has allowed an average of 270 yards to all teams, they had allowed 350 yards per ...

Texas A&M vs. Arkansas: Score, Grades and Analysis

Posted by Rob Goldberg on September 28 2013 Add Comments
Things were never easy for No. 10 Texas A&M on the road against unranked Arkansas, but the Aggies did enough to escape Razorback Stadium with a 45-33 victory.  While Texas A&M is usually known for its passing attack led by Johnny Manziel, it was the ground game that led the offense in this one. On a rainy day, the squad combined for 262 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 44 attempts. Arkansas was able to stay in ...

The fifth-ranked Stanford Cardinal (3-0, 1-0 Pac-12) take a trip to Seattle to take on the Washington State Cougars (3-1, 1-0 Pac 12) for their first Pac-12 road game. Last week, Stanford defeated Arizona State 42-28 to begin its Pac-12 title defense. Now the Cardinal face an unranked Washington State team that is looking to upset one of the premier teams in the nation. The Cougars have lost their past five games against Stanford and are ...

Analyzing Jared Abbrederis’ Monster Performance vs. Ohio State

Posted by Richard Langford on September 28 2013 Add Comments
In an exciting first half against No. 4 Ohio State, Wisconsin posted 260 yards—159 of those yards came from catches made by Jared Abbrederis. The senior wide receiver went onto go for 10 grabs, 207 yards and a touchdown.  That wasn't enough to have his Badgers avoid a 31-24 defeat, but it definitely warrants a closer look. The 6'2" receiver made six catches in the first half—one of which was a touchdown.  That 36-yard score put Wisconsin on ...

Wake Forest vs. Clemson: Tajh Boyd Shows He Deserves More Buzz for 2013 Heisman

CLEMSON, S.C.—Following No. 3 Clemson’s 56-7 blowout of Wake Forest here Saturday afternoon, Tajh Boyd said, “I feel I’ve accomplished about everything you can accomplish in a college career, minus a couple of things. Well, three things.” He’s about right. Consider this: The Tigers’ fifth-year senior quarterback has won an ACC Championship, a bowl game, ACC Player of the Year honors and All-American honors. His career stats are better than any quarterback in Clemson history. Consider this: ...

Ole Miss vs. Alabama: Score, Grades and Analysis

Posted by Alex Ballentine on September 28 2013 Add Comments
It wasn't always pretty, but the Alabama Crimson Tide continued to roll through their schedule with a 25-0 win over Ole Miss.  The two-time defending national championships, who improved their record to a perfect 4-0 (2-0, SEC), looked sluggish offensively in the first half. Field goals of 28, 53 and 42 yards from Alabama kicker Cade Foster represented the only offensive output from either team.  Fortunately for Nick Saban and Co., the Tide offensive unit has a ...

College Football Deserves Rematch of LSU-Georgia in SEC Title Game

Posted by Carter Bryant on September 28 2013 Add Comments
Why do all good things have to come to an end? Georgia defeated LSU 44-41 in college football's best game of the season. It was wire-to-wire action that should have been a doubleheader.  In a perfect world, LSU would have driven down the field and kicked a game-tying field goal to force overtime. But the game abruptly ended when a Zach Mettenberger fourth-down pass sailed high to Odell Beckham Jr. with less than a minute remaining.   ...
