University of Texas’ Real Target: the Nebraska Walk-On Program

Considering all of the policies and rules that the University of Texas aimed at the University of Nebraska prior to the start of the Big 12 in 1996, it seems that most everyone is focused on the non-academic qualifiers and partial academic qualifier debate.

The University of Texas’ real target is often lost in discussion. Texas attempted to craft rules and policies meant to bring the Nebraska football program to its knees and to a level they thought they could compete with.

That target was, without question, the Nebraska walk-on program.
