Pick Five: Texas Longhorns Essential for Team Success in 2010

January 7, 2010. A day that the Texas Longhorns would like to forget. After losing college football's winningest quarterback Colt McCoy to a shoulder injury, freshman Garrett Gilbert was thrust into last year's BCS National Championship Game and McCoy was forced to watch a 37-21 defeat at the hands of Alabama. With McCoy now in the NFL, the Texas Longhorns will have to produce star players quickly to stay atop the Big 12. Texas has averaged more than 11 victories over the past nine seasons so plenty of work will need to be done to repeat the success achieved last season. Here are five players who could make the Texas Longhorns national championship contenders once again in 2010.
