Gavin McCarney gained 510 all-purpose yards (377 passing, 133 rushing) along with five touchdowns as Colgate defeated Georgetown, 57-36 in Hamilton, New York this afternoon.
The junior quarterback threw two touchdown passes to Kevin O'Connell and another to CJ Stempeck, both sophomore tight ends. McCarney also rushed for touchdowns of 41 and 30 yards.
Led by McCarney's efforts, Colgate set a school record with 707 total yards of offense, breaking its previous watermark of 678 yards in a 61-28 win over Lehigh in 1997.
