Having already conquered the women's game, Connecticut Huskies head coach Geno Auriemma nearly made the jump to the men's game more than a decade ago.  In an interview with Kentucky Wildcats head coach John Calipari on his Cal Cast podcast (h/t Excelle Sports' Nick Forrester), Auriemma said he had a job with a men's college team lined up before deciding against taking it: I had until midnight to make a decision. And I thought I had made ...

Another season of college basketball in Lexington, Kentucky, another innovation by head coach John Calipari that could change the game. On Saturday, Hamidou Diallo, an absurdly athletic 18-year-old shooting guard from New York City who's ranked 10th in his class, committed to play basketball at the University of Kentucky. In and of itself, that fact—one of the top prospects of the 2017 high school class joining Calipari's already loaded recruiting class—is not of particular note. Calipari has ...

On Wednesday, however, Gates said he felt it was simply a "basketball play," according to Jeff Goodman of ESPN.com: Grayson Allen did not make a dirty play. That was not a dirty play. He plays hard, he dove after a ...

Duke Missing Amile Jefferson More Than Coach K After Loss to Florida State

The loss wasn't a certainty until Tuesday night, but the groundwork for Duke's 88-72 defeat at Florida State was laid a few days earlier when its best interior defender limped off the court. Since Amile Jefferson suffered a bone bruise to his right foot—the same one he broke in December 2015, causing him to miss the rest of last season—late in the first half Saturday against Boston College, it's been a major balancing act for the ...
