College basketball is just as dominated by the power programs as any other NCAA sport, though the little guys tend to make a lot more noise on the court than they do in football or other sports. Upset wins and deep runs by mid-major programs in the NCAA tournament are an annual rite of passage, and while new Cinderellas pop up each year, there are some schools that seem to make noise more frequently.

These are college basketball's best mid-major programs—the ones that power teams try to avoid during the regular season and dread having to face in March. Most will never be able to rise to the level of the big boys, in terms of resources or national following, but they've still managed to stand out in their own way.
