South Florida Defense Will Face Famous ‘Dukie’

The last time we saw Greg Paulus in athletic competition he was dribbling a basketball for the Duke Blue Devils.

When the University of South Florida faces Syracuse in its Big East opener October 3, the Bulls defense will face Paulus on the football field.

Syracuse head coach Doug Marrone has named Paulus his starter after one week of summer training camp.

It's an extraordinary journey for Paulus, who played point guard at Duke and will now quarterback the Orange.

The last time Paulus played in a football game, he was a standout quarterback at the Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft, N.J. He was the Gatorade National High School Player of the Year in 2004.
