Utah RB Matt Asiata Given an Extra Year to Play

Utah running back Matt Asiata has been granted an extra year of eligibility by the NCAA earlier today.

The 5'11", 230-pound senior missed 21 games over the past three seasons due to injuries including eight games in 2009.

His best season came in 2008, although he started only one game (vs. Utah State) which he recorded three rushing touchdowns, he did play in 13 games that season.

His numbers were fair for a pass based offensive, leading Utah in carries (146), rushing yards (707), and rushing touchdowns (12). He averaged 4.8 yards per carry throughout the 2008 season and recorded 13 receptions for 111 yards and one touchdown.
