At the end of the Huskers' 2007 campaign, which ended with an embarrassing 65-51 loss to Big XII North rival Colorado, it was clear to even the most casual college football fan that the course plotted by former AD Steve Pederson had become a fast track to nowhere. University Chancellor Harvey Perlman had already canned Pederson, much to the delight of Husker Nation, and had replaced him with then Interim Athletic Director, Dr. Tom Osborne, a move that elicited an even greater celebration by the Big Red faithful.
