Indiana Basketball: Hoosiers Most Likely to Make All-B1G Team

Posted by Kyle Grand on August 12 2013 Add Comments
A season ago, Indiana basketball was well represented on Big Ten All-Conference teams. Cody Zeller and Victor Oladipo were first-team selections (by coaches and media). Christan Watford was picked for the third-team (media), Jordan Hulls was an honorable mention (coaches and media) and Yogi Ferrell was also an honorable mention (media) and made the conference All-Freshman Team (coaches). Four of those five may be gone, but a new crop of Hoosiers is ready to bring in ...

7th-Grader’s Windmill Dunk Proves the Future of the Basketball Is Bright

William Dillard is a 6'3" basketball player that threw down a windmill dunk. Nothing too out of the ordinary, until you realize that he's in the seventh grade. The 13-year-old threw down this sick slam during a game at Chris Paul's CP3 Rising Stars camp. Let that sink in for a second. It's impressive enough that Dillard pulled this off in-game, but the fact that he's still in middle school makes this feat nothing short of incredible.  Dillard won't ...

The Big Ten Conference supports several of college basketball's most illustrious programs. It also houses Northwestern and Nebraska, but more on them later. Every program has had one of those seasons, one that stands as the pinnacle. Those seasons verify that there is hope for future success, post results beyond anyone's wildest dreams and even, in one case, demonstrate that perfection is indeed possible. So, which season was the best for each of the Big Ten's current member ...

Michigan Basketball: Updates on Wolverines’ Top Recruiting Targets

Posted by Zach Dirlam on August 12 2013 Add Comments
Recruiting updates are rolling in with the time for official visits nearly upon us, and the Michigan basketball program has been getting some good news as of late.  Despite falling out of the mix for one elite prospect and cooling on another, the Wolverines do not have a shortage of options. New targets have been added to the board. Others are beginning to trim their lists, most of which are still considering Michigan. Keep in mind that ...

Baylor Basketball: Isaiah Austin’s Speedy Recovery Cause for Cautious Optimism

The Baylor Bears are one of the most difficult teams to judge where they belong in the preseason national pecking order. Baylor is due for another Elite Eight run. Scott Drew's team has a run of Elite Eights every other year and a case could be made that this particular team has a great shot to keep the trend going. The Bears are talented enough to be a player in the Big 12 and nationally. Reason No. ...

Florida Basketball: Does Gators Star Patric Young Have an NFL Future?

Posted by C.J. Moore on August 12 2013 Add Comments
Florida big man Patric Young is a borderline NBA prospect. If basketball doesn't work out for Young, maybe he should try his luck at football. Young worked out recently with some Gator football players, and he appears to be a natural as a pass-catcher. (Quarterbacking, however, is not in his future.) Young also has football in his genes. His father, Robert, played tight end at Bethune-Cookman and then professionally for the Jacksonville Bulls and Tampa Bay Bandits ...

Ohio State Basketball: Buckeyes Most Likely to Make All-B1G Team

In the past decade, the only safer bets than assuming an Ohio State basketball player would be named to the All-Big Ten team were death, taxes and the Buckeyes beating Michigan on the football field. Thad Matta has had a player named to the conference’s top team in every one of the past eight years, with Deshaun Thomas and Aaron Craft bestowed the honor in 2012-13. The second longest current streak for a Big Ten team ...

Breaking Down Michigan Basketball’s Offseason Thus Far

Posted by Conor Volpe on August 11 2013 Add Comments
After a dream season in which the Wolverines made the NCAA championship game, things seemed to be ready to collapse. It looked like they were going to lose four of their starting five, and a team with so much promise would drop down to the middle of the pack. But luckily for the Michigan faithful, Mitch McGary and Glenn Robinson III decided to stay in Ann Arbor. A team on the verge of a rebuild all ...

The Fatal Flaw for 20 Top College Basketball Programs Going into 2013-14 Season

Posted by Thad Novak on August 11 2013 Add Comments
In the single-elimination world of college basketball’s postseason, a contender’s season can end thanks to one weak link and an opponent to exploit it. Even the top candidates for the 2014 national title have holes that could send them to a very premature exit in March Madness. Ohio State will be a Final Four favorite behind a smothering defense led by veteran PG Aaron Craft. However, the loss of frontcourt star Deshaun Thomas leaves Craft without ...
