Posted by Alan Black on August 15 2013 Add Comments
On Wednesday, Aug. 14, the NCAA released attendance figures from the 2012-13 college basketball season. It should come as no surprise that Kentucky, Syracuse, Louisville, North Carolina and Indiana comprised the top five in average home attendance last season. What may come as a surprise is which school had the highest average home attendance of all the teams in the western U.S. That would be BYU with an average of  15,986 fans per home game, giving the ...

Michigan Basketball: 5 Pieces of Trivia Every Wolverines Fan Should Know

In spite of its struggles during the early 2000s, the Michigan basketball program has plenty of history behind it. There are plenty of trivia questions one could ask about the Wolverines and their successes in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Some could even reach all the way back to the earliest years of college basketball and ask a great question.  The following five questions, though, are not meant to be brain-busters. In fact, everyone considering himself/herself ...

Ranking the Most Important Senior Classes in NCAA Basketball’s 2013-14 Season

An experienced roster, led by a talented senior class, can occasionally be overrated in college basketball. Look at these happy lads from Louisville, for instance. It's easy to forget that the national champions lost only one impact senior, that being point guard Peyton Siva. This season's Cardinals, thanks to the NBA defection of fearsome center Gorgui Dieng, are likewise a fairly young bunch with only three seniors on scholarship. How do the Cards' trio of seniors stack up ...

The Indiana Hoosiers lost four starters from last year's squad that advanced to the Sweet 16. Point guard Yogi Ferrell is the only returning starter, and he will take on a greater role—offensively and as a leader. Senior forward Will Sheehey will likely start for IU, and Arizona State transfer Evan Gordon should be a regular in the rotation as well. Head coach Tom Crean and Indiana fans know what kind of production those three players will have ...

UNC Basketball: How Much Weight Is on James Michael McAdoo’s Shoulders in 2014

One way to look at North Carolina's late-season resurgence a year ago was that by moving P.J. Hairston into the starting lineup and going small, Roy Williams was able to put his best five players on the floor. Another way to look at is that the Tar Heels changed their identity because of the lack of progression in James Michael McAdoo's game. The hope around Chapel Hill a year ago was that McAdoo would become a star ...

Michigan State Basketball: Will the Spartans Be Better or Worse in 2013-14?

Posted by adam biggers on August 14 2013 Add Comments
Forecasting Michigan State in the Final Four is a safe guess. Since taking over the program in 1995, Tom Izzo has been to six of them. He won it all in 2000, and if not for facing North Carolina’s "Team of Destiny" in 2009, he would have a pair of championship victories. In 2012, the Spartans had to rebound without star Draymond Green. Adreian Payne took on a bigger role and helped lead the team to the ...
