Many college baseball experts were surprised when it was announced that Florida's Preston Tucker would be returning for his senior campaign in 2012.Tucker's stock was at an all-time high after Florida's championship appearance a year ago, and it certainly appeared to be a good time for him to put his hat in the MLB amateur draft. Instead, Tucker made the decision to put off pro ball for one more year while he tries to lead his fellow Gators to Omaha ...

That giant gust of wind that hit Charlottesville this afternoon, around 3:15, wasn't a forerunner of the snowstorm bearing down on central Virginia.  It was the collective exhale of a sell-out crowd exiting John Paul Jones Arena after their Virginia Cavaliers put together their best half of basketball this season, as they pulled away from a 31-31 half time tie to demolish the Maryland Terrapins, 71-44. The Cavs, once a certain lock for an NCAA bid ...

Coming off a loss Tuesday night at Clemson, Virginia was looking a little shaky. Despite a 19-6 record, they had fallen to 6-5 in the ACC with a dangerous Maryland team coming to Charlottesville. Frankly if the Cavs had lost Saturday, that would be the NCAA bubble off in the horizon, but as he’s done all year Mike Scott carried Virginia. In this game Scott had 25 points and seven rebounds in ...

Things were beginning to look a little scary in the first half.  Anthony Davis was in foul trouble, Kentucky's shots were not falling, and a Demarco Cox dunk had made it 31-29 Ole Miss with 4:46 left to go before halftime. Fortunately, the Wildcats found their shooting touch and torched Ole Miss for the rest of the game (including going 10-18 from behind the arc) to end up winning 77-62.  The GoodDarius Miller (14 points) ...

2012 finds the Syracuse Orange waiting in the wings for a Final Four appearance.Last week, Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim notched his 880th and 881st career victories as a college head basketball coach, moving him into third place on the all-time career victory list, behind only Mike K. and Bobby Knight. If the Pac-12 is going to vault four squads into the NCAA tourney, Saturday's Arizona vs. Washington matchup needed to be a showcase of what was expected when the year started:Two of the perennially-top programs on the West Coast, featuring the deepest collection of highly-rated recruits in the conference—including projected first-round NBA draft prospects Tony Wroten and Terrence Ross—in a fast-paced showdown to stay in the hunt for the Pac-12 regular-season championship. That's exactly what played ...

Syracuse University Basketball: Top 10 Orange Who Have Flopped in the NBA

Posted by Greg Maiola on February 18 2012 Add Comments
Syracuse University, led by Hall of Fame coach Jim Boeheim, has long been one of the top NCAA basketball teams. Unlike Kentucky, Syracuse isn't usually a one-and-done school. Players go there to compete and win in NCAA play, not to focus on the NBA. However, several star players in college have failed in the NBA. Leaders as Orangemen have transformed to flops in the NBA. Miserable performances have led to short professional careers. The purpose ...

If you're anything like me, you have been wondering just what Tom Gugliotta is doing in retirement. Thankfully, we have an answer to that question. He is getting going to see his Alma Mater play and getting kicked out of the crowd. Okay, maybe that's not a permanent thing, but it happened today in the Wolfpack's loss to Florida State. It takes a second to realize just how odd of an occurrence this is. Yes, referees eject people all the ...
