As the twists and turns of the 2010 college football season continue to test the BCS formula, Oregon and Auburn are front-runners in what seems like a cluster of one-loss squads.Auburn handled Ole Miss with relative ease, heading back to Auburn with a 51-31 victory and a 9-0 record.Oregon was tested by USC in the first half, but showed their resilient nature by jumping ahead to a 20-plus point lead in the fourth quarter, eventually ...

How Brian Kelly Has Ruined Notre Dame Football

It’s like a kid who collects baseball cards.  He follows his favorite player game to game, day to day.  Then one day he realizes his favorite player is going to be at the next baseball card expo down at the local college.  So he wakes up that morning, grabs his cards,  puts on his favorite players jersey, and heads down there to finally meet his hero. But, here’s the thing, when he finally gets ...

Ohio State-Minnesota: Quick Review

Dave Thurman (11:19 pm)It was a lot more treat than trick on the night before Halloween at TCF Stadium.  Although we'll have a much more complete review tomorrow here are a few things that stood out to me: 1.  The offensive line dominated They have taken their lumps from fans and media this year, but the big guys played great tonight and opened some huge holes for the running backs, besides offering Terrelle Pryor terrific protection. 2. ...

Auburn Football 2010: A Few Thoughts After The Mississippi Game

Posted by Kevin McGrady on October 30 2010 Add Comments
The Auburn Tigers have reached the end of the nine week gauntlet. They got there playing like a championship team should on the road. Mississippi had given up an average of 125 rushing yards per game before today. Just two weeks ago they held Alabama to 100 yards rushing in Tuscaloosa. Coming in to today’s game many were predicting Auburn to be upset. Others were calling the Tigers a one man show with no talent other ...

Rebel Yelp: Grading No. 1 Auburn’s 51-31 Thrashing of Ole Miss

Houston Nutt does it every year. That one upset. The one that makes people's jaws drop. The one that nobody saw coming. The one that keeps his seat cool. This was supposed to be "The One." The 1960 National Championship team from Mississippi is being honored at halftime. It's in Oxford and the Grove. This was supposed to be "The One." Guess what? Like the drill sergeant-turned-therapist from the Geico commercial might say, "Life doesn't always work out ...

Michigan’s Defense Is a Nightmare

Posted by Big House Bob on October 30 2010 Add Comments
I'm at a loss for words when it comes to this defense.  I didn't think this defense could get any worse after the bye week, but it has.  Mike Martin is clearly the only player on Michigan's defense and when he is out, so are the Wolverines.  I am done with excuses and whatever we have been saying that gives us reasons for hope for this defense.  It's terrible and yes this is ...

Rich Rodriguez: Let The Flaming Begin

Posted by DJ Walker on October 30 2010 Add Comments
At least we own Indiana, right? That's about all Rich Rodriguez supporters can say right now. Ever since the Michigan State loss, Michigan fans have been trying to fend off the 2010 = 2009 comments but, following a loss to a seemingly hapless Penn State, that job is about to be harder. No longer is the Illinois game next weekend a given in any category. Even Purdue, as awful as they may be, might be able to ...

Iowa Hawkeyes Send a Message in Mauling of Michigan State Spartans

Posted by Kevin Trahan on October 30 2010 Add Comments
After last week's crushing defeat to Wisconsin, Iowa had two ways of responding. It could have lost a second straight home game, which would have marked this season as a disappointment, or it could have come out angry, ready to redeem its season. The Hawkeyes chose the latter. After last week's loss, Clayborn was very emotional, calling out his team for not practicing hard enough. It seemed likely that he and his defensive teammates would come out ...

Auburn Football: Cam Passes, Runs and Catches Auburn To Victory!

Auburn—51 Ole Miss—31 Auburn defeated Ole Miss by 20 points. Cam Newton torched the opposing defense in the first half. We then ran over them in the second half.   Offense The offense looked about as good as it has all year. The deeper you get in a season, the tougher the competition gets. The opposition has more information to counter their plays. The running game looked fantastic for the Tigers. Micheal Dyer has come into his role with the team ...
