Tennessee Does the Unexpected: Blasts Kentucky Wildcats Back to Reality
Friends had been trying to tell me all week, but after Tuesday night's loss to the Florida Gators in a most humiliating fashion, I decided not to believe.
Yesterday, my own father tried to tell me it was going to happen. A local radio personality who is all-Vol virtually promised it would come to pass. Given Dr. Basketball's normal penchant for being horribly wrong on his picks, I had even more reason not to believe.

The Top 10 College Football Programs From the Past Quarter Century
Much has changed over the past 25 years, and college football falls into that category. Every season there is a team or two that play above expectations, and everyone roots for them to go as far as possible.
However, there are those teams that seem to show up big every season. We can count on watching them somewhere in the top rankings.
Let's take a look back and list those top ten programs over the ...
BYU Basketball: With Loss to New Mexico, Is Their Season Over?
To put it simply, NO!
BYU fell at home by only two points to conference foe New Mexico, effectively losing the regular season conference title to the Lobos, who have now won 13 straight.
The 23,000 fans in attendance were all witnesses to why the Pomeroy ratings have New Mexico rated as the "luckiest" team in all of college basketball.
New Mexico has a perfect 12-0 record in games decided by six points or less. But at a ...
Wayne Peace: Florida Gator QB Was One of Gator Nation’s Founding Fathers
When Sports Illustrated ran the cover which accompanies this piece in September of 1982, we knew things had changed.
The Florida Gators had gone big time. And we were right there.
Quarterback Wayne Peace was my Phil Simms, before Simms was Simms.
I can remember singing the praises of the then much-maligned New York Giants' quarterback during the 1986 season. Giant fans never thought that Simms could deliver in a big spot. I always liked him.
"But ...
OSU Moves Into First Place in Big Ten Standings With Win Over Michigan
Ohio State jumped out to a quick 9-0 lead to start the game before sleep walking through most the first and second halves. This lack luster performance moved them into a tie in the Big Ten standings with Purdue.
The Buckeyes split the season series with the Wolverines with a 66-55 victory in front of 18,862 Buckeye faithful. Any time these two schools meet in any sport it’s a grudge match. Neither team was willing to ...
The Vols Exploit Kentucky’s Weaknesses in Win
Up until now, Kentucky has been the like the Titanic, invincible and unsinkable. They've demolished every SEC or non-conference opponent, even beating Vanderbilt on the road.
But they couldn't handle Tennessee's energy and intensity at Thompson Boling Arena.
This loss isn't the iceberg that will end John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins' maiden voyage. They're still a two loss team and should be a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament. Kentucky is also loaded with talent, boasting ...
Should I Stay or Should I Go? Why Former Duke Star Gerald Henderson Chose Wrong
The one-and done phase of college basketball is at its peak in today’s game.
Left and right, the top-ranked prospects coming into college get encouraged by the media to make the leap to the NBA, guaranteeing several players endorsements and contracts at the next level.
Legendary programs may recruit some of the finest talents in the country, but each coach is now forced to hold his breath once the year is coming to a close, hoping that he persuaded ...
Home Sweet Home: Tennessee Knocks Off Kentucky Wildcats In SEC Thriller
With two weeks left until Selection Sunday, Judgement Week was in full force at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tennessee.
The 17th ranked Volunteers, one of the more unpredictable teams in the nation, was looking for a statement win before the NCAA Tournament began.
And they accomplished that, defeating the No. 2 ranked Kentucky Wildcats 74-65.
This game was Tennessee's game to lose, leading the Wildcats by 19 at one point, 11 at halftime.
That did not stop arguably the ...

Blue Demons Hunt For Revenge Against Scarlet Knights In Re-Match
DePaul Blue Demons @ Rutgers Scarlet Knights
4:00 PM ET, February 27, 2010
Louis Brown Athletic Center
Piscataway, NJ
Less than two weeks ago, DePaul (8-19, 1-14 Big East) and Rutgers (14-14, 4-11 Big East) battled in Rosemont, IL. Up by as many as 17 points in the first half, DePaul thought they had the game in the bag. Rutgers would have something to say about that.
The Scarlet Knights dropped 44 points on the Blue Demons ...
