Towson-Manhattan: Jaspers Give Fans Something to Cheer About

Posted by Jesse Kramer on February 21 2010 Add Comments
The Manhattan Jaspers gave the few fans that showed up on Saturday something to cheer about in a 78-62 rout of Towson. The Jaspers are now 3-4 all-time in Bracket Busters. This is the first time Manhattan has won a Bracket Buster game at home. Manhattan (10-17, 4-12 MAAC) started the game on a 20-0 run and from that point on, Towson (7-20, 4-12 CAA) had no chance. Towson could not come close to hitting a ...

Miami Hurricanes’ Recruiting Class Will Prove Doubters Wrong

Posted by Benjamin Minkus on February 21 2010 Add Comments
Carrying the momentum of three consecutive top-10 recruiting classes, expectations were higher than ever during the Randy Shannon Era, as 2010’s National Signing Day approached, with the Hurricanes in play for several undecided four and five-star prospects who could serve as crown jewels to an otherwise solid yet unspectacular class. Once the dust had settled, however, UM was left with a class that was more blue-collar than blue-chip. So, sure, to the casual observer, the 2010 ...

Alabama Football: Why the Naysayers Know Nothing About the Offensive Line

Posted by Larry Burton on February 21 2010 Add Comments
Larry Burton (Panama City, Fl) Nobody seems to be giving Nick Saban and Joe Pendry credit for keeping talent ready to go on the offensive line at Alabama. Last year, even publications like Sports Illustrated said the team may be good, but will have problems with the offensive line due to graduation and early departure for the NFL. I seemed to be the only voice in the wilderness saying the offensive line would not only be ...

Auburn Football’s Potential for Offensive Impact for 2010

Posted by Kevin McGrady on February 21 2010 Add Comments
In this article I hope to bring some idea about the impact potential of the 2010 Auburn Tigers. I will not be focusing as much on the well known players, but on the soon to be well known players. I will not be including true freshmen in this article. The reason I decided not to include true freshmen has many angles. The biggest is, the offensive player has more to learn to succeed. It is unfair ...

Shaun O’Hara: NFL’s NY Giant and Rutgers Walk On Giving Back

"I'll prepare my best and perhaps I'll get my chance." If that's the best that he could do, then who the heck am I to be making demands. The he I'm referring to is UCLA's legendary basketball coach, John Wooden. I often use that quote with my students as I try to emphasize this whole idea of doing your best without regard to outcome; without demanding any "up front" payment before committing. In all honesty, I'm probably talking ...

Is This The Year The Drought Ends?

Yes my friends, 2010 may hold the ultimate sleeper team one that could actually win the national title. Georgia has been sliding since their loss to Alabama during the 2008 season. Since then Georgia has had a 14-7 record. Not so great for what was once such an elite program. Georgia has a much easier schedule and a revamped defense from last year, there is no doubt Georgia will do better than 2009. But a national ...

Duke’s March Struggles Over: Blue Devils Case As Final Four Contender

Posted by Tyler Lambert on February 21 2010 Add Comments
When the season began for Coach Mike Krzyzewski and his staff, several question marks surrounded the program. Amongst the questions of longtime Duke fans and the media: "Is Duke truly on a downfall because of their lack of success in March in recent years?" "Would the Blue Devils be able to contend with their rival North Carolina for the ACC regular season title?" "Could Duke hold up against top-tier teams with a limited backcourt?" We have yet to receive an answer ...

Iowa Hawkeyes Spring Position Battles: Offense

Posted by Al NamiasIV on February 21 2010 Add Comments
The Big Ten's second worst statistical offense will be returning seven starters. Needless to say, there are two things to look at in that sentence. Firstly, there is the issue that Iowa was the Big Ten's second worst offense, as well as the 86th ranked offense nationally. Normally, this wouldn't be completely atypical for Iowa, as they run a conservative offense that takes care of the football. However, Iowa also threw the second most interceptions in the Big Ten. ...

Auburn University To Erect Gene Chizik Statue

Posted by Richard Cotner on February 21 2010 Add Comments
Following what many fans consider to be the best recruiting class in school history, Auburn University officials have announced plans to erect a statue in honor of Head Coach Gene Chizik. The statue is said to be slated for completion prior to the start of the 2010 football season and will be constructed entirely of pressure treated lumber, chicken wire, and Colonial Bank stock certificates. Although the actual size and location of the monument have not ...
