Louisville-Georgetown: Hoyas Get Back in Groove with a Big Road Win
Just days ago, the Georgetown Hoyas were coming off an embarrassing loss in New Jersey to Rutgers. Yes, Rutgers. The loss was part of a hectic week that left people asking if the top Big East teams were actually as powerful as people had once thought.
The Hoyas came up big at Freedom Hall tonight against a Cardinals team, winners of three straight, which included a road win at Syracuse. Louisville was looking to break ...
Oregon Still Trailing Florida in Arrests After Impressive Start To 2010!
University of Oregon linebacker Kiko Alonso was cited for DUI early Saturday morning after officers noticed Alonso was driving erratically, which prompted them to pull him over at a 7-Eleven Store on East Broadway in Eugene.
After pulling Alonso over, Eugene police cited him for DUII (driving under the influence of intoxicants), failure to maintain a lane, driving without insurance and minor in possession.
Alonso's citation came just about 24 hours after Oregon head coach Chip Kelly ...
Wisconsin Badgers Hoops: Pros and Cons at Season’s End
Although Wisconsin has exceeded expectations and posted big wins this season, the Badgers are not looking as formidable as they were earlier in this campaign.
After losing for the first time in 52 tries at home to an unranked opponent (Illinois), the Badgers seemed to bounce back with an 83-55 thrashing of the Indiana Hoosiers.
Things looked rosy indeed with the return of big man and second leading scorer, Jon Leuer, on Monday, Feb. 15. The ...
NCAA Football Recruitment: Massachusetts Cornerback Albert Louis-Jean
Any college football recruiter will tell you right off the bat that there is no tougher position to recognize talent at than cornerback. Let’s be honest, when will a cornerback’s performance be highlighted on a film? College coaches may even spend days contemplating which player on their team would fit best at cornerback.
The skill of a cornerback has become so specific in the ever-changing world of college football. Albert Louis-Jean of Brockton, Mass. is an ...
Oregon Ducks Football Will Be Okay
With numerous incidents over the past month, the Oregon Ducks football program and its fans have seemed to reach a crossroads.
Chip Kelly led the Ducks to a conference championship and Rose Bowl berth in season one, but has also had a rash of high profile incidents since Sept. 2nd.
I will preface the body of this article with the fact that I do not condone any of the actions that allegedly took place over the past ...
Are the 2010 North Carolina Tar Heels the Worst NCAA Defending Champs Ever?
With today’s 71-67 loss to the Boston College Eagles—their ninth in 11 games—the North Carolina Tar Heels guaranteed that they would finish the season with a losing ACC record for the first time since 2002.
Now, UNC’s one and only chance of making it to the NCAA Tournament lies in an automatic bid by winning the ACC Tournament. In all likelihood, the Tar Heels will join a list of defending national champions—currently with 18—who have ...
A Nick Saban Erection; Why Now? Wait Until He Retires For Pete’s Sake!
Mal Moore has announced that a statue of coach Nick Saban would be erected in honor of the recent national championship.
The question is, "Why now?"
A statue of Saban erected on the "Walk of Champions" at this point in time would simply be a distraction. Coach Saban preaches day in and day out about avoiding distractions. Why in the world would Mal Moore put the biggest distraction to future success right in front of the coach every ...
John Wall: Is He as Good as People Say?
John Wall is considered by many to be the best player the nation has to offer.
He has all the athletic and pure ability needed to be a great college and professional basketball player—great strength, speed, jumping ability, and length for a point guard. He possesses outstanding driving ability, a transition game that is virtually unstoppable, and a smooth mid-range jump shot.
He has all the necessary attributes to be a great player down the road in ...
Imaginary Conversations With the NCAA Infractions Committee
Let me make this perfectly clear—I despise the NCAA Infractions Committee, specifically its heavy-handed tactics.
In fact, I celebrated when Oklahoma won on their sanctions appeal against the NCAA. Boomer Sooner, baby.
I hope to be saying Roll Tide Roll, Go Big Blue, and Fight On before this fall.
Michigan and USC are currently under the microscope, while Florida State already had its guts ripped out and spine removed by the NCAA. Alabama is currently waging a Sooner-like ...
Relax, Michigan Football Fans: The Only Scandal Brewing is at the Free Press
It's days like today that make me ashamed to be a sportswriter.
No more than a handful of outlets in the Michigan or national media are taking the time to separate the allegations against the Michigan football program—which are serious—from the university's actual findings— which are not.
Few mainstream Michigan sports outlets (save for Rivals' John Borton, whose article is behind a paywall, and of course, the always even-keeled MGoBlog) putting those findings into a proper context for ...
