College Basketball: NCAA Tournament’s Safe House, Doghouse, and Outhouse
Instead of publishing a new bracket each week, I'll be breaking down the potential NCAA tournament field by placing contenders into three different categories: the Safe House, the Doghouse, and the Outhouse.
The Safe House consists of teams that need an absolute collapse to miss the NCAA tournament right now.
The Doghouse is made up of teams that are in the tournament, but have done something wrong lately to cast doubt on whether or not they belong ...
2011 College Football Coaching Moves: Peering Into Fuzzy Crystal
Yes, I know. Spring practices for the upcoming season have begun in only a few places, and the qualification status for 2010 signees is months from finalization. Tarot cards have higher percentages for prediction than anyone forecasting football this early in the year.
But there is a Siren tempting me—an incessant whisper behind every word I hear.
Over and over it repeats: Michigan goes 6-6.

Tim Tebow’s NFL Combine Performance Won’t Ease Doubts
Early this week, Tebow announced that he would not be throwing at the NFL Combine. The announcement is not much of a shock considering the short amount of time that has elapsed since he overhauled his throwing motion.
Instead, Tebow will run, lift, and jump at the Combine and throw later next month at Florida's pro day.
Unfortunately for Tebow, running, jumping, and lifting won't exactly wow scouts.
Brady Quinn, the last combine hero quarterback, sat on top ...
College Hoops: Big East Big Dogs Rule the Kennel
Georgetown and Syracuse both avoided upsets last night to maintain some semblance of sanity in a conference that can come across as schizo at times.
The Hoyas, after being down by six at half on the road at Louisville, managed to lock down the upstart Cardinals in the second half with some stifling defense and poor UL shooting.
Offensively, Georgetown was led by Austin Freeman’s ridiculous 24 second half points, allowing the Hoyas to finally pull away ...
Will a Change in Coaching Spell Boom or Bust for These BCS Teams?
It has been one very busy off-season in college football. The coaching carousel was in overdrive as we saw the ouster, relocation, hiring, and firing of more than 20 coaches before the dust began to settle.
Some of the hirings were performance-based while others eschewed in a total change in the philosophy of how a team approaches their gameplan on Saturday.
How will Texas Tech adjust to Tuberville's balance after more than a decade under ...
Top 10 Trojans: Three for the Heisman
USC has achieved the lofty position of having seven players win the Heisman Trophy. Four of them have already been mentioned in the ongoing series ranking the top 10 players in Troy's storied program.
To review here is what has appeared to date regarding the top 10 players selected:
1) O.J. Simpson was one of two Heisman winners in the John McKay era, which produced four national championships.
2) Ronnie Lott was someone good enough ...
NCAA Basketball: Maryland-Clemson Analysis From ESPN Pundit Tony Kornheiser
(Note: Written before Maryland's HUGE 88-79 win over Clemson at Comcast Center. This win, in all likelihood, stamps the Terps' dance card for the 2010 tournament. Thoughts on the game? Feel free to voice them in the comments.) Tony Kornheiser back with you on ESPN Radio. I am your host. Tony Kornheiser.*
You know what, Nigel?
Nigel: What's that, my liege?
Tony: I'm watching Hannah Storm on SportsCenter, and I'm having a reaction.

Tony: Don't get ...
Big East Preseason QB Power Ratings
Sure it's early and that makes it all the more difficult to properly rank next fall's Big East quarterbacks. But who cares about easy? For your inspection and dissection, these pre-preseason power ratings are here for your review:
1. Zach Collaros, Cincinnati
This may come as a surprise but it shouldn't. Collaros filled in for Tony Pike last season when called upon and the Beatcats never missed a beat. In fact, the offense had more options with ...
What Teams Can Compete for the SEC Championship in 2010?
While the anticipation of spring practice and the expectations of the 2010 college football season build, let us explore what makes an SEC Championship team.
What is alike and what is different with each one? Let us take a quick look and see.
In 2009, the SEC Championship was won by an Alabama team that many have claimed was one of the best all-time teams. Let us see how this team compares to other SEC Championship teams.

Why Boise State’s Kellen Moore Should Win the Heisman…But Won’t
The amount of exposure and publicity a university receives when one of their players wins the Heisman Award Trophy in invaluable. The overall impact the Award can bring the university is worth millions of dollars.
Alabama's Mark Ingram won the 2009 Heisman Award in the closest voting in the 75 year history of the award and the 2010 voting for the Heisman could be just as competitive.
If Alabama can get to December with another unblemished record and if ...
