Buckeyes Get Sloppy in Second Half, yet They Survive Nittany Lions Battle
When Ohio State arrived in Happy Valley today it didn’t have quite the energy it did back in November when these two teams met on the football field. It did however lead to the same result, a Buckeye victory.
The most anticipated match up in this game was Evan Turner versus Talor Battle. Neither disappointed the fans in the Bryce Jordan Center, as both led their team in scoring.
Evan Tuner finished with 25 points and seven ...
South Florida’s Mike Ford Dismissed from Football Program
There were high hopes at the University of South Florida after running back Mike Ford was named MVP of the International Bowl in January.
He put up a career high 207 yards in his team's 27-3 victory over Northern Illinois and showed signs that he might live up to his potential.
It all came crashing down Wednesday when Ford, a Sarasota native, was dismissed from the USF football program.
In a statement from the athletic department, the shocking announcement ...
Power Rankings: Top Ten Wide Receivers in the Pac-10
The Pac-10 is no stranger when it comes to putting up points, but with the running backs in this conference more often than not stealing the show, it can be hard for these outstanding wide receivers out west to gain the props that they most definitely deserve.
With only one Pac-10 team (Oregon State) finishing amongst the Top 25 in passing yards during the 2009 college football season, the conference wasn’t exactly heralded for ...

NCAA Basketball: Colorado State’s Perry Served an Injustice By SportsCenter
Harvey Perry, you have been hosed.
By who? ESPN.
When Perry blocked Phillip McDonald's breakaway dunk attempt with 7:54 remaining in the second half of No. 10 New Mexico's 72-66 defeat of Colorado State on Tuesday, just about everyone in attendance, especially those of us sitting on press row, agreed that there's no reason that swat shouldn't land on SportsCenter's Top 10.
The block was clean, took tremendous hustle, and sent the basketball flying into the stands.
After making ...
Salem Returns To Michigan State As Running Backs Coach
In January Michigan State lost running backs coach Dan Enos when he resigned to become the head coach for the Central Michigan Chippewas. This left a glaring hole at a vital position on the Spartans team and head coach Mark Dantonio filled it with former Spartan coach Brad Salem.
Salem had been the head coach of the Augustana Vikings, a Division II school, for five years before returning to East Lansing. While at Augustana he complied ...
UNLV Basketball: The Mathematics of a Memorable March
UNLV needs a strong finish. Their toughest regular season games are behind them. The schedule sets up for a nice, momentum-building run into the postseason.
Expectations weren’t particularly high entering the season. They are now.
The question marks are gone. The team has ability. Success is expected.
With three regular season games to play, the Rebels still have some kinks to work out. The 31-point massacre of Colorado State was a nice start, but upon further review, there ...
2010 Iowa Hawkeyes: One For The Ages?
The autumn leaves were thick on the still-growing grass, and the first hints of cool weather were whispered on the wind. I tugged on the rake in my hand, molding a leafy structure that fought to stand against the Midwestern wind. Jim Zabel crooned out his signature “I love it, I love it, I love it” though my mid-1980’s Walkman headset as I toiled away the hours cleaning our front yard. The Hawkeyes were edging ...
Michigan Football: Amid Allegations, We Say, “In Rod We Trust!”
It was a tough day for Michigan athletics yesterday. The controversy around NCAA rules violations within the football program came to full swell, and the storm that ensued afterwards was as expected as it was regrettable.
Far too many media outlets, namely The Detroit Free Press, decided to present these allegations as a death sentence for Rich Rodriguez. Unfortunately for them, that is not the case.
I'm going to say what very few people in ...
Can the Alabama Crimson Tide Defend Its BCS Crown in 2010?
The Crimson Tide may be headed into treacherous waters.
There has not been a back-to-back national champion in almost 15 years, and there have only been two teams in the past 30 years to accomplish that feat.
Alabama did it in 1978 and 1979, and Nebraska did it in 1994 and 1995.
Winning back-to-back national championships is one of the most difficult feats in sports, and winning back-to-back BCS championships has never been done.
Alabama now faces one of ...
