Whether Boise State's quarterback Kellen Moore stays one more year or stays through his senior year, he will be the best quarterback in Boise State history and could potentially have the numbers to be among the best who ever played college football. Since becoming a starter, Moore is a one-point loss to Texas Christian away from being 27-0. He has led the Broncos to their highest ever ranking, and one of the biggest wins in school history. But ...

It’s late February. The sun is staying a little longer in the sky.  Valentine’s Day has come and gone.  The Horned Frogs started their 2010 baseball campaign. And the Purple Toads still do not have a fourth out of conference game scheduled in football. Currently, the Frogs 2010 season has non conference games against Pac-10 Oregon State, Big 12 Baylor, and Conference USA foe and traditional rival SMU. Given the paucity of scheduling options now out there, it appears ...

Hoos’ Ready for Omaha: Quick Takes On Opening Week Of College Baseball

I'm a bit disappointed with myself for not writing this article a week ago, since I have always assured myself that Virginia (2-1 v. No. 18 ECU) is the true No. 1 team in college baseball, over the likes of Texas (1-2 v. New Mexico) and LSU (3-0 v. Centenary). Although it's apparent that Texas has the best pitching staff in the nation, and the likes of LSU and Cal State Fullerton the championship pedigree and a ...

How Rutgers And Tim Brown’s Miracle TD Crushed UCONN’s Broken Heart

Posted by Mike Casella on February 24 2010 Add Comments
Sitting in the exact same chair as I'm in right now, I was about to turn off the on line broadcast of the Rutgers-Connecticut football game of last year. Listening to it on the computer was the only way I could tune in to hear my alma mater. And what I was hearing wasn't very encouraging. With years of mediocrity, at best, to fall back upon, my cup of Scarlet melancholia runneth over. It was UCONN's first home ...

Tarheel Turmoil: Overrated Roy Williams Shows His Colors

Posted by Scott Stone on February 24 2010 Add Comments
Roy Williams got coffee for legendary Dean Smith for a decade, or scotch depending on what sources you believe, and became the most overrated head basketball coach in the history of college basketball—period. Want proof? North Carolina is .500 at 14-14 after getting pounded at home against bubble team Florida State on Wednesday night. Williams was handed a job at one of the top five schools in the history of college basketball without much of a resume' ...

Is It Hot Seat Time For Texas A&M Coach Mike Sherman?

Aggies have traditionally taken great pride in their institution, with its storied history of achievement, especially in the military and engineering arenas. Alums point with pride to the lessons of perseverance, discipline, and ingenuity that they garnered from College Station during their respective tenures there.  A quality they always point to that exists in an Aggie is patience…patience to get the job done, to do it right, to figure out the calculation, or to stand guard on ...

A Young USC Fan’s Recollection Of A Fallen Trojan, Mosi Tatupu

Posted by Rick McMahan on February 24 2010 Add Comments
Today it was reported that Mosi Tatupu, the great Trojan fullback and father of ex-USC linebacker Lofa, had died of unknown causes. Mosi Tatupu was 54 years old. Mosi Tatupu, who cleared the way for Anthony Davis on USC's national championship team of 1974 before becoming a feature back on his own, played for the Trojans from 1974-77 and lettered all four years of his Trojan career. For me, a young man of 12 years of age at ...
