Colorado State Hires Todd Stroud of Florida State
The coaching staff for CSU football in 2010 is finally complete as Rams head coach Steve Fairchild named Todd Stroud the team’s tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator on Thursday. Stroud has 25 years of experience coaching college football, most recently at Florida State where he spent the past three years on legendary coach Bobby Bowden’s staff as the Seminole’s strength and conditioning coach. “I’m excited for our team that we’re able to ...
Florida-Auburn 1986: The Greatest Game at the Swamp?
What's the greatest game ever played at Florida Field, also known as the Swamp?
My high school football coach at Fletcher Senior High School in Jacksonville Beach, Florida told me something I hadn't known.
Running track for him in high school was a kid named Robert McGinty. He'd go on to become Auburn's placekicker in the mid-1980's. After the 1985 season, he transferred to Florida after missing a last second attempt against Alabama.
As we like to say ...
SEC Power Rankings: Ranking the Top Receivers for 2010
We've already ranked the men in charge of distributing the ball to the receiver, but in many cases, it's up to these guys to bring it down- bad throw or not.
The SEC had a good crop of receivers last year, but loses Shay Hodge and Dexter McCluster (though he was a jack of all trades) from Ole Miss, Brandon LaFell from LSU, and a solid duo in Aaron Hernandez (TE) and Riley Cooper from Florida.
Don't ...
UNLV-TCU: Rebels Romp at Home 78-62
Tre'Von Willis led four Rebels with double figures in scoring as UNLV pounded the TCU Horned Frogs at the Thomas and Mack Center here in Las Vegas on Wednesday night. Willis, playing only 22 minutes, scored 16 points along with four rebounds, three assists, and three steals. He went 5-7 from the floor, 2-4 beyond the arc, and a perfect 4-4 from the line. Once the Rebels took a 31 point lead early in ...
Wisconsin Badgers 2010 Offensive Depth Chart: Pre-Spring Practice Edition
With spring practice starting up in a matter of weeks (March 13 to be exact), it's about time to start speculating on how Wisconsin's depth chart is going to look.
Now, with many returning starters from last year's 10-3 squad, it shouldn't be too hard to predict what players are going to be on the field next year. With success like that, there shouldn't be many major changes.
Regardless, it's always interesting to predict what a ...
College World Series: The Last Year at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium
The Road to Omaha is a common phrase for any college baseball fan. The mecca of the sport is Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, NE. The history, the pageantry, and the atmosphere make this event one of the greatest sporting events on the planet.
With the pleasure of growing up in Omaha I have been able to attend games for the past 15 years, I have seen the past 10 National Champions crowned. ...
Indiana Gets Ready to Battle The Badgers at Assembly Hall
Five weeks. 35 days. 840 hours. 50,400 minutes.
That's how long it has been since Indiana has last won, which was Jan. 21, 2010.
Since then, the Hoosiers have been in an eight-game slide, and currently it seems like there is no end in sight.
Players are playing soft, without energy, and without any confidence.
Yet heading into the final stretch of the season, maybe things can change.
Indiana has nothing to lose in tonight's game against the Wisconsin Badgers, ...
Five New Faces That Alabama Football’s Success Depends On
Throughout the course of the 2009 Alabama football season, the same guys got the job done over and over. Rolando McClain was a tackling machine. Terrence Cody was an undeniable force at Nose Tackle and Javier Arenas paired up with Kareem Jackson to make a pair of lockdown corners. On offense, Colin Peek sparked the passing game with his constant 10 and 11 yard gains. Drew Davis was a dependable right ...
Georgia-Vanderbilt: Why Dawgs Need A Win Tonight
At the start of the season Georgia had very little expectations to win anything, even an NIT bid.
The Dawgs had always been the very opposite of what their football team has been. While their football program is usually one of the best, their basketball program is part of the SEC graveyard. However, Georgia has proved they can compete with the best of the SEC as they blasted both Tennessee and Vanderbilt at home.
While Georgia ...
2010 Winter Olympics:”Mad” Mike Milbury Wants To Be The Next Don Cherry
Canada hockey fans know Don Cherry very well. His outspoken remarks on "Hockey Night in Canada," sometimes show how opinions can go over the line.
But the man knows his hockey. Meanwhile, over here in the States, NBC has a guy by the name of Mike Milbury who seems to spew garbage just for the sake of stirring up controversy, while lacking Cherry's knowledge of the game.
The latest brewha occurred during Wednesday night's Canada -Russia postgame when he used ...
