Oregon Ducks-USC Trojans: Fright Night at Autzen Stadium

Posted by Dan Zarwell on October 30 2009 Add Comments
With the showdown between Oregon and USC just one day away, I thought it might be interesting to compare this year's Ducks to some of Halloween's most notable ghouls... Frankenstein Could Chip Kelly be the modern day Victor Frankenstein, the fabled scientist who learned to create that which is more powerful than the average man? After a heart-wrenching loss in his first game as a head coach, Kelly has proved his worth by assembling a monster, ...

The Awful Experience With Michigan Fans

Posted by Megan Klock on October 30 2009 Add Comments
The trip to Michigan last weekend was quite an experience for Penn State fans.  After ending the losing streak at the Big House, they had a reason to come home happy.  Although the day turned out to be in favor of Penn Staters, there was one thing that they had a complaint about during their time there.  Does it come as a surprise when I say Michigan fans? A few of my friends made the trip to ...

Baylor Basketball 2009-10: Scott Drew’s Bears Ready to Hit the Hardwood

Posted by Denton Ramsey on October 30 2009 Add Comments
Baylor head coach Scott Drew is facing a challenge this basketball season after losing three superstar seniors. But Drew knows all about challenges, as he has resurrected the Bears basketball program from a disastrous dungeon to a championship-caliber NCAA hoops team. The 2009-10 season may very well be a major turning point in Baylor men’s basketball, as well as Drew’s career. With only a duo of seniors returning in sharpshooter Tweety Carter and big man Josh Lomers, Drew ...

Vegas Loves TCU, But Can UNLV Slow Down The Frogs?

Posted by Misthaufen on October 30 2009 Add Comments
When TCU opened as a thirty-one point favorite (now up to thirty-five) for its upcoming game against UNLV, it was obvious that the Frogs' success had not missed the eyes of the people who make money picking games. On the other hand, UNLV has a lame duck coach who hasn't been fired only because it would cost the school a few hundred thousand dollars to do so.  Plus, would the Rebels play any better without their poor ...

Pac-10 Predictions: Week Nine

Posted by Brad Vipperman on October 30 2009 Add Comments
No. 24 Cal @ Arizona State (+6.5) Arizona State did not look good last week against Stanford.  Not only did the Sun Devils lose by three scores, but they also looked uninspired doing it. Stanford was able to rush for four touchdowns on the day and a total of 237 yards (125 of them by Toby Gerhart). This does not bode well for ASU as they enter a contest with Cal, and one of the nation's ...

Boo! Halloween Games Can Be Scary for Tennessee

Posted by Ben Garrett on October 30 2009 Add Comments
The defense South Carolina is bringing to Neyland Stadium for Saturday's game against Tennessee is frightening. The Vols' recent Halloween football history is even scarier. Tennessee has played a Halloween game only three times in the modern era of college football. Two of them have ended in road upsets. To be fair, the Vols have won far more than they've lost (11-3) in their Halloween gridiron appearances, beginning with a 10-0 win at Nashville in 1903. But forgive Vols ...

Rod Woodson: Boilin’ Over At Purdue

Posted by TJ Jenkins on October 30 2009 Add Comments
As a kid growing up with his mother and father in Indiana, Rod Woodson attended R. Nelson Snider High School and played three different sports: football, basketball, and track. As a football player, he was essentially a utility man playing defensive back, kick returner, and a variety of offensive skill positions including running back and wide receiver. He achieved All-State honors in both his junior and senior seasons. As a  track star, he won the state tournament ...

ACC College Football Match-Ups Week 9

Posted by Charles Anderson on October 30 2009 Add Comments
Three teams head out of the conference this week, but the rest are still fighting in the trenches for a shot at the Championship game, all hoping that Georgia Tech slips up. Virginia Tech's lost may have finally dashed all hope of a shot at the ACC Championship game, but they'll need to come off the two losses and get back in it to get a decent bowl bid. I went 3-1 in the conference play last ...

Duke Basketball Fans Howl after Blue Devils Ranked 9th in Pre-Season Rankings

Posted by Mike Kline on October 30 2009 Add Comments
The 2009 Preseason ESPN/USA Today Coaches Basketball Poll was announced yesterday, and some Duke fans were scratching their heads at the Blue Devil's ranking. They were ninth if you actually care about that kind of thing. Some fans obviously do, as they were screaming, some quite literally, foul. They felt their team was some how disrespected, especially since arch-rival North Carolina came in at fourth.  Preseason polls, at least when it comes to college basketball, mean very little. ...

Trent’s Touchdown: Six College Football Games to Watch in Week Nine

Posted by Trent Lane on October 30 2009 Add Comments
Well, I’m rested and back from Puerto Rico and ready to run down this week’s games. Thankfully the Duchess was tired after our trip to Old San Juan, so I got to watch the ends of the Alabama-Tennessee and Miami-Clemson games. Even when I go away, the games stay crazy. Hopefully, it’ll be just as exciting this weekend. Anyway, on to the Touchdown. 1) No. 5 USC at No. 10 Oregon—8:00 on ABCUnless something weird happens (which is a ...
