According to a source close to the team, UB Bulls tailback, James Starks, will miss the opening of the 2009-10 season due to an undisclosed shoulder injury. If surgery is needed, he may need to sit out his entire senior season. The source said Starks had an MRI Friday, which revealed the injury. Starks' backup Brandon Thermilus was named starter at today's practice. Thermilus, a junior, saw an expanded role last season, carrying the ball 100 times for ...

2009 ACC Preview and Prediction: Coastal Division

Posted by Bryan Flynn on August 24 2009 Add Comments
So far, our 2009 college football previews and predictions have covered the ACC Atlantic Division. We pick Florida State as our favorite to win the Atlantic. The Demon Deacons from Wake Forest will push the ‘Noles all season long. The rest of the Atlantic will be playing for a bowl bid. The ACC Coastal Division will be our focus next. The Coastal, in my eyes, has two teams that could make a case for either a BCS ...

Ranking the Clemson Tigers’ Toughest Games

No one really knows what to expect from new Clemson coach Dabo Swinney. What we do know is that Kyle Parker has been named the starting quarterback, and that being a tougher football team has been emphasized. My ACC Preview had the Tigers finishing as good as 9-3 and as bad as 6-6. How does the 2009 schedule look? 1) @Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, September 10, 2009 The Tigers will be coming off a game with the ...

This summer, the National Football Post is breaking down every team in the Football Bowl Subdivision(formerly known as Division I-A) to identify players who might warrant interest from NFL teams in the 2010 draft. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have a plethora of talented underclassmen on both sides of the ball and look like one of the favorites in the ACC this season. Offense   Jonathan Dwyer: No. 21, RB, 5'11", 235 A thick, powerfully built runner who certainly has the ...

A Report From The UCLA Football Fall Scrimmage

Posted by Derek Hart on August 24 2009 Add Comments
This past Saturday I was at UCLA for the Bruins' annual fall football scrimmage, as they continue to prepare for the upcoming season. After watching the Bruins, I can definitely say that progress is being made. The first team offense could have done better. Standout defensive tackle Brian Price was constantly in the backfield causing havoc, and new quarterback Kevin Prince completed only 2-of-5 passes, with an interception by Rahim Moore that he ran back for a touchdown. On the ...

2009 UCLA Football: Trying to Make Kevin Their Prince

Posted by Justin Yett on August 24 2009 Add Comments
With the 2009 UCLA football season starting up soon, the Bruins have a new face taking the reins of the quarterback position. Kevin Prince, a 6'2" 215 pound red shirt freshman, will be taking snaps for the Bruins this season. Prince, an original Washington Huskies commit, is said to be able to make all throws necessary to be a successful quarterback but hasn't really been tested for about two years. As a senior at Crespi Carmelite ...

Tim Tebow: How Much is the Florida Gator Worth?

Posted by tebows eyeblack on August 24 2009 Add Comments
The Independent Florida Alligator has a great piece discussing how much money everyone, but Tim Tebow, is making off Tim Tebow. The piece also raises that never ending discussion of whether student athletes should be paid. But look at these numbers: The UF Bookstore, located on campus, sold around 2,000 of Tebow’s No. 15 jerseys last year. That’s a rate of 166 per month, ranging in price from $75 to $150.A search on ebay.com for “Tim ...

BCS or Bust for These 11 Teams

Posted by Kevin McGrady on August 24 2009 Add Comments
This is obviously going to be a wonderful college football season. This year started with every major pundit picking Florida to run the table and run away with the BCS Title. It seems as usual some of the cooler heads have put out more information and now it seems almost every team has a shot at the BCS Title. Now it is time to follow that trail and see which teams might have the compass ...

Northwestern Football Season Preview

Posted by Joe Slowik on August 24 2009 Add Comments
With just under two weeks until I'm tailgating in the West Lot outside of Ryan Field again, it's time for my opening thoughts on my beloved Northwestern Wildcats. The Cats are coming off a strong season where they went 9-4 and lost in overtime in the Alamo Bowl. While they lost several key players, there are still a number of reasons to believe that they could qualify for another solid bowl game this season.   Strengths The Secondary This is ...
