Relationships between sports teams and the media are at one time both symbiotic and parasitic.

Players, coaches, and teams benefit greatly from media coverage of their teams, games, and so on. For instance, there is no doubt that the intense fan scrutiny, though the lens of media, is what enables coaches to earn millions of dollars per year.
