Racial Tension at South Carolina: Should Student Athletes Be Involved?

As the political landscape in South Carolina continues to be one of racial tension, things are beginning to spill over into one of the state's largest universities.

The University of South Carolina, home of the Gamecocks.

For all intents and purposes, a school that has little to do with the politics of the state.  It is a school in which 24 percent of its students are minorities.

That is ten percent higher than the national average. 

However, that is not enough to keep South Carolina lawmakers from calling recruits from the state of South Carolina and trying to persuade them to consider other schools, due to the fact that the University of South Carolina may lose its one black trustee.
