The Notre Dame quarterback controversy just took on a new twist, per an announcement from the university.
According to statements from Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly, quarterback Tommy Rees and linebacker Carlo Calabrese have been suspended for the Irish's season-opening game against Navy in Dublin, Ireland on Sept. 1.
Neither player will be making the trip to Dublin, which sets up for the Irish offense to be led by either Andrew Hendrix, Everett Golson or true freshman Gunner Kiel.
