Most Overrated Players in College Football

The 2012 college football season is rapidly approaching and everyone is looking forward to kickoff. For many folks, that means debating who will be the year’s best players.

There are All-American teams to be picked and a Heisman race to be projected. We expect guys like Matt Barkley and Manti Te’o to be among the nation’s elite and to live up to their lofty expectations. Other players, like Justin Hunter at Tennessee, are looking to rebound from a tough 2011 campaign.

For other players, there are lofty expectations that will most likely never be realized. Geno Smith at West Virginia is on people’s Heisman shortlist, and the quarterback is going to have a lot of success in Dana Holgorsen’s offens...
