I believe there are two major reasons why Nebraska is so inconsistent.

One is because the team lacks an identity. One week Nebraska comes out and throws the ball all over the field. The next week the Cornhuskers try to use the option to try to play smash mouth football. When Nebraska figures out what their identity is, they can try to perfect it and win games.

The second problem is coaching. Bo Pelini has stated many times after the Cornhuskers lost that the team did not execute. I think the coaching staff is not executing as well.
