Notre Dame made its debut in the Atlantic Coast Conference a memorable one, knocking off seventh-ranked Duke 79-77 at home on Saturday afternoon.

The Fighting Irish (10-4) trailed 37-35 at the half and was down 10 points early in the second half, but a 20-4 run helped fuel the comeback in its first meeting with Duke (11-3) since falling to the Blue Devils in the second round of the 2002 NCAA tournament.

Notre Dame got 19 points and 11 assists from senior guard Eric Atkins, while Pat Connaughton had 16 points and Garrick Sherman added 14.
