The 2010 NFL Draft has concluded, and UCLA has once again carved its niche in the professional ranks as several Bruins leave college for the bigger, stronger, faster, and lucrative National Football League. As UCLA climbs towards the top of the Pac 10 Conference, one shouldn't be surprised that more Bruins are better-equipped for the intensity and brutality at the next level than in previous years. Let's take a look at who got drafted, who signed ...

Don’t Hate, Appreciate: A Georgia Fan’s Letter to the Rivals

This feels like the worst time of the year for a southern sports fan here in Atlanta. The Hawks just lost two games on the road to some random ABA team up in Canada, or something like that. The Braves are behind the Washington "Natinals" at the bottom of their division standings. And of course, we always primarily want to talk about football. However, NFL draft talk and spring practice discussions have become more of an annoyance than ...

C.J. Leslie Picks NC State: Can He Help Keep Sidney Lowe Employed?

Posted by Luke Dykes on April 29 2010 Add Comments
On Wednesday, five-star recruit C.J. Leslie committed to attend North Carolina State University to play college basketball. Originally the high-octane wing player had a verbal commitment to the Wolfpack, but he withdrew to allow other schools a chance to recruit him, namely Connecticut and Kentucky (where former teammate John Wall performed so well). Eventually, Leslie chose to stay in his home state and attend a school that could use a boost. Leslie's commitment is the cherry on top ...

The Michigan coaching staff is on the road for what is considered a four-six week Spring evaluation period. Look for the number of Michigan offers to increase this month as kids are visited in their high schools. Some visits already completed include: WR DeAnthony Arnett, RB Justice Hayes, and LB Trey DePreist. Roy Roundtree is helping recruit WR AJ Jordan from his former high school, Trotwood-Madison, in Ohio. AJ now has an offer from Michigan. ...

Michigan Spring Game Observations: Running Backs

Posted by Charles Welch on April 29 2010 Add Comments
The biggest issue for Michigan's offense is going to be replacing Brandon Minor, however he was never really healthy so it shouldn't be too difficult. Now the candidates. Mike Shaw—Shaw had a good spring and made a couple of nice runs this spring game, but is going to have to be more consistent. Shaw has a chance to earn a starting role, but he has to continue to be more physical and use his speed more ...

ACC Football Power Rankings: Top Coaches of 2010

Posted by Ben Gibson on April 29 2010 Add Comments
It's easy to rank running backs and quarterbacks. One needs really only to look at the numbers and adjust if needed for certain circumstances. The job is a little more difficult when trying to assess the coaches that lead these teams into hostile environments in hopes of achieving gridiron glory. Does the team's success stem from the players or the staff preparing these young men? Do they win in spite of or because of their coaching staff? How ...

Notre Dame, A Big East Ultimatum and Conference Survival

Posted by Tom Edrington on April 29 2010 Add Comments
These are uncertain times for the Big East conference. Very uncertain, and very disturbing times. The Big Ten is out there, plotting and whispering, behind closed doors and then in public, for all those who want to listen. The Big Ten is uttering the "E" word. The "expansion" word, and the Big East can hear it.The Big East with its small band of eight football members, is easy pickins. Very easy pickins. An invite to Pittsburgh, Rutgers, or any other ...

Which College Football Team Will be this Year’s Ole Miss?

Posted by Stacey Mickles on April 29 2010 Add Comments
The 2009 Ole Miss Rebels came into the season with high expectations and why shouldn’t they? They had an NFL caliber quarterback in Jevan Snead, a great running back in Dexter McCluster, a pretty good defense and an experienced head coach. They even had a schedule in their favor; what they didn’t have was experience, great backups, a coach that doesn’t perform well under pressure and an overrated qb. There are a lot of teams ...

Texas Longhorns Could Solidify SEC As Top Conference with Looming Expansion

Posted by Brett Stephen on April 29 2010 Add Comments
With talks continuing about expansion of major conferences in college football, the question of whether or not the SEC will expand looms. If the SEC does choose to add a team or two, which teams would make sense? The Southeastern Conference is undoubtedly the strongest football conference from top to bottom, so any team that joins has to be a top-tier program. Factors to be considered would be the strength of the football program, the size and quality of ...
